Ocean Sushi on Rt 57

We were supposed to meet a friend for dinner, but she couldn't make it. We got completely carried away - this was all excellent.

Cozy kitty

Rosie settled in on Alana's bed. Doesn't look very dangerous, does she?

Caravan Lotan

This is the group of Israeli scouts that will be coming through upstate NY this summer. One of the cute young men in the back row will be staying at our house for a week in August.

Mexico visit

Mexico, NY that is. We spent the afternoon with the Meffords, ostensibly to make maple syrup, so here is Cal skimming the last batch (they had already made about 4 gallons).

Alana was extremely enamored of the bunnies.

Cal with the remote control car.

Watching a chick hatch in the incubator.

Mommy daughter outing

Cal was at the movies (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) with Jake and some other friends, so Alana and I got pedicures.

Cal supports the team

SU's first game is tonight against Vermont.

Tiramisu

Williams-Sonoma recipe. For Sisterhood potluck.

Literacy night at school

Cal bought a book and a poster, and Alana bought a journal with a dog on the cover.

Sushi lunch

At Komachi Sushi on Marshall St. I treated myself to lunch even though I shouldn't have - I'm on the austerity plan this month. But I went up to the SU bookstore to get Cal an "I Bleed Orange" tshirt and it just sounded so good when I walked by. It was so great to get out of my office and take a walk on this gorgeous day.

Alana's socks

Last weekend we got a 3-pak of socks with monkeys on them. Well, 2 had monkeys and one was plain. So she decided to draw her own picture on the plain ones. But she drew dogs instead of monkeys. So clever.

Larry sleeping

Yes, he got a crick in his neck.

Friday, March 12, 2010

I went into Alana's class to help with centers. This is Alana with Jamie and Taryn.

We all scream for ice cream

I bought ice cream for everyone so I got some for Roxy too.

For some reason, Alana needed her ear muffs to eat hers.

Basketball in the driveway

Larry, Matt and Caleb played for a couple hours, but for some reason, I only took a photo when Matt helped Alana take a basket.

GF food in Upstate cafeteria

This is quite new. Someone mentioned it to me - I hadn't been there in a couple weeks.

The prices are high and the selection is limited, but at least they're trying - there's this case of food and then a list of "safe" items (not much on that, believe me). It's a start.

Ocean Sushi

Yummy new restaurant on Rt 57. This is a bad photo, but you get the general idea - we ordered too much!

Matt chomping on the Asian version of a jalepeno popper.

Alana digging into a bowl of rice.

Israel program

I copied this from the Concord website - Alana in the audience at the group assembly

Another successful event

Kind of poor photo, but fun to have - Dawn and I pose with Kristen Kratzert at the WRJ monthly meeting. Yet another triumph for us - great turnout and Kris was terrific.

Alana upside down

We had a really full day. We ran a few errands and then came home for play dates in the afternoon - Cal had Jake and Alana had Ciera.

Missed picture

Left my phone at home when I picked up Roxy for her walk. Then we met an opossum in the park on one of the only days I couldn't take a picture. Not sure why it was wandering around, considering that they're nocturnal. Roxy walked right up to it and they were nose to nose for a moment - the opossum was not amused, but Roxy was just curious. I was so close, I could have gotten a terrific photo. So frustrating.
